  1. WizCat/PRO 4.2 Release Notes
  2. ----------------------------

  4. This document contains important information for users who were
  5. previously using an older version of this software, distributed
  6. under the name WinCat/PRO (versions 3.0 up to 4.1). 
  7.  
  8. Registered users
  9. ----------------
  10. As you may have noticed the name of the program has been changed
  11. from WinCat/PRO to WizCat/PRO.
  12.  
  13. In case you registered WinCat/PRO you are also entitled to use
  14. the new WizCat/PRO 4.2 ; your registration-number remains valid.
  15.  
  16. The old WinCat/PRO saved your registration-number in file WINCAT.INI
  17. (located in the \WINDOWS directory).
  18.  
  19. The installation-program INSTALL.EXE copies file WINCAT.INI to file
  20. WIZCAT.INI ; by doing so, WizCat/PRO will know your registration-
  21. number and it will use the program-settings you defined for WinCat/PRO.

  24. Filenames
  25. ---------
  26. Because the name of the program has changed from WinCat/PRO to
  27. WizCat/PRO the executables and related files are now called WIZCAT*.* ;
  28. prior versions were called WINCAT*.*.
  29. The installation-program that comes with WizCat/PRO 4.2 does NOT erase
  30. or overwrite the old WINCAT*.* files. 
  31. If you decide to use the new WizCat/PRO 4.2 you can erase these files :
  32. WINCAT.EXE
  33. WINCAT.HLP
  34. WINCATMC.EXE
  35. WINCATUZ.EXE
  36. WINCATUZ.WAV
  37. WINCATDZ.EXE
  38. WINCATAR.DLL
  39. WINCATBT.DLL
  40. WINCATIC.DLL
  41. WINCATRS.BAT

  45. What's new in WizCat/PRO 4.2
  46. ----------------------------
  47.  
  48. General
  49. * WizCat/PRO has been updated to support the peculiarities of Windows 95.
  50.   However, the program runs in 16-bit mode in order to remain compatible
  51.   with Windows 3.1/3.11.
  52.   When you use Windows 95 WizCat/PRO also supports long filenames ; for an
  53.   explanation on how this works refer to 'About Windows 95 Long Filenames'
  54.   in the Help file.

  56. Work with File window
  57. * The new Work with File window replaces the Restore and Associate windows.
  58.   On this window you can define your favorite programs to WizCat. Then, with
  59.   a simple double-click on its icon you can run the program, and then it
  60.   immediately opens the file you're working with.

  62. Volume List window
  63. * The æExitÆ button has been replaced with an æOpen CatalogÆ button. 
  64. * New function on the æFilesÆ menu : Duplicate Files. Use this function to
  65.   display all files that occur more than once in the catalog.

  67. File List window
  68. * A double-click on a file listed on the File List window will instantly run
  69.   the program that has a Windows-defined association with that file. If there
  70.   is no association defined, or if the associated program is unable to open the
  71.   file, the æWork with FileÆ window will be shown instead.

  73. Recatalog window
  74. * When updating a disk in the catalog, this window will accurately show (and
  75.   optionally print) all files that have been added, deleted, updated or regressed.
  76.   This information can be used to see the changes that occurred when installing
  77.   new software.

  79. Search File window
  80. * You can now specify multiple arguments using and/or/not operators on the Filename,
  81.   Folder and Comment fields. 
  82. * The Index displays a list of all words that occur in comment-entries.

  84. Statistics window
  85. * In order to support the increasing capacity of harddisks the Statistics window
  86.   now is able to show æused spaceÆ values up to 2 terabytes.

  88. Change Volume Icon window
  89. * Just a bit bigger.
  90.  
  91. Report window
  92. * New report : files sorted by class.

  94. New in WOODLE 2.2 :
  95. * A labelÆs width and height can now be reduced to 2.40ö (69.4 mm) in order to
  96.   support 70x70 mm labels.
